Dr Karen Vaughan is Managing Director of Hummingbird Effect Ltd, a consultancy in conflict resolution and strategic advice and design. Karen has over 25 years of experience in applied research and stakeholder management across diverse industries. As Chief Researcher at the New Zealand Council for Educational Research, Karen’s research was influential in many high-profile, national initiatives in workplace learning and assessment systems, youth pathways and apprenticeship, career development and the future of work. As Head of Stakeholder Relations at the Royal New Zealand College of GPs, Karen led a cross-functional group in policy and advocacy, governance and privacy. Karen is a Director on the Board of the Open Polytechnic, an accredited mediator, and a Consultant to Te Ngāpara Centre for Restorative Practice at Victoria University of Wellington and to the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. Karen has a PhD in Education from the University of Auckland.
