Dr. Ondene van Dulm – Unification Implementation Lead – Te Pūkenga
Ondene’s teaching and research at Stellenbosch University in South Africa and Canterbury University in Aotearoa New Zealand was in the field of Linguistics, focusing on the interface of syntax of sociolinguistics, and on child language development and impairment. Ondene moved into the ITP sector in 2016, working at the Eastern Institute of Technology in programme development and academic quality assurance, and later as Head of School for Health and Sport Science. She’s been seconded to Te Pūkenga since mid-2022 to lead the unification of programmes across a range of disciplines, from Education to Exercise Science to Hospitality and Tourism. Ondene has a keen interest in figuring out how the full potential of WIL may be harnessed for the benefit of both ākonga and industry, optimising graduates’ work readiness. She believes that key to this endeavour is utilising an appropriate range of types of WIL, each with its own academic merits and catering to students with a variety of needs in terms of academic and pastoral support.
